April 1: Almighty God, may the light of Your love shine bright in the world this Easter season. Bring hope in the darkest moments for many religious communities around the world that are marginalized and vulnerable during this pandemic.
April 2: As the hope of Resurrection Sunday draws near, we are humbled by the suffering Jesus endured on the cross for us. Pray for Christians around the world who are enduring persecution, suffering and violence for their faith in Jesus Christ.
April 3: As many church buildings still stand empty, the Church has been dispersed to sow love and hope into the world. As we remember Jesus' sacrifice this Easter, pray God shows His Church new ways to proclaim the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.
April 4: "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen!" (Luke 24:5-6) Pray Christ’s resurrection will bring hope and strength to believers facing persecution and/or violence for their faith.
April 5: "Peace be with you." (Luke 24:36) Pray for families longing for news of their loved ones who have been detained, imprisoned, forcibly disappeared or abducted because of their faith that they might know the peace Christ offers to all this Easter.
April 6: "Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:20) Pray for Christians imprisoned, forcibly disappeared or abducted because of their faith that they would be comforted by the knowledge that the risen Christ will never abandon them.
April 7: "My Lord and my God!" (John 20:28) Jesus, may all those who face intimidation and abuse for believing in You, despite never seeing You in the flesh, be filled with courage. May they profess faith in You as boldly as Thomas did on touching Your wounded, risen body.
April 8: "Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them." (John 20:26) At the resurrection, the unimaginable became reality. Pray those who can’t envision any possible way out of their present sufferings are filled anew with an unshakable faith.
April 9: Pray for the nation of Pakistan. The threat of violence is ever present for the Christian community. Years of religious leaders teaching hatred toward Christians in schools and through the media has created a society that is seething with tension and fear.
April 10: Pray for religious freedom in Pakistan where religious minorities face atrocities on a regular basis. Freedom of religion or belief continue to be eroded in Pakistan and religious intolerance is widespread with hate speech and false accusations of blasphemy.
April 11: Pray for a change of heart for all those who preach hatred against Christians in Pakistan. Ask God to give wisdom to CSW’s advocates as they develop new ways to tackle hate speech.
April 12: Pray for Christians in Pakistan, who are considered second-class citizens. Religious prejudice pervades all areas of life in Pakistan where many face discrimination in employment and education.
April 13: A Christian man in Pakistan, Nadeem Joseph, died after being shot several times by his new neighbor because the neighbor didn’t want to live next door to a Christian. Pray for comfort and protection for Nadeem Joseph’s family.
April 14: Christian children report that when they are at school, "No Muslim classmates want to be our friend.” Pray for comfort and strength for children facing discrimination and intolerance at school on account of their faith.
April 15: School should be a safe place to learn, but in Pakistan, children are taught using biased curriculum that teaches importance of Islam and actively disparages other faiths. Pray for curriculum reform that promotes peace between religious groups.
April 16: Children in Pakistan are learning from textbooks that distort history and encourage discrimination against religious minorities. Pray for CSW's Faith and a Future campaign which is working to remove biased materials that actively fuel religious hatred.
April 17: Human rights defenders in Pakistan have experienced a rise in threats, break-ins and state monitoring. Pray for their safety and courage as they continue to fight for justice and equality.
April 18: Pray this verse over those working to defend human rights in Pakistan: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
April 19: Pray for CSW partner, Michelle Chaudhry, President of The Cecil & Iris Chaudhry Foundation (CICF). In response to the pandemic, CICF launched a COVID-19 Relief Program to distribute food to vulnerable families.
April 20: Dear God, please amplify the voices in Pakistan that report the misuse of blasphemy laws against Your children. We pray for the international community to respond swiftly and effectively.
April 21: Please pray for CSW’s partner organizations as they support and represent Christians in Pakistan. Ask God to grant wisdom to CSW’s Advocacy Team seeking the most effective ways to speak up for religious freedom.
April 22: Lord God, bring peace to the nation of Pakistan. We pray for the justice system in Pakistan that the courts would rule fairly and seek the truth at all times.
April 23: Almighty God, we lift up the nation of Mexico. Give strength to Christian communities suffering for their faith, and soften the hearts of all those seeking to harm them. Bring peace and religious freedom to all those persecuted for their faith.
April 24: Although the Mexican constitution guarantees the right to freedom of religion or belief, minority faith communities are targeted. Pray the Mexican government intervenes where religious freedom is violated.
April 25: Freedom of religion or belief in Mexico is a complex picture. Religious leaders are seen as lucrative targets by criminal groups involved in money laundering and human trafficking. Dear God, reveal Yourself to leaders of criminal groups and bring them to faith in Jesus.
April 26: Pray all Mexican citizens are able to practice their religion of choice freely, without fear of repercussions. Pray for changed hearts of those preventing religious minorities from practicing their faith, and that the impact of organized crime on religious freedom ceases.
April 27: Pray for Impulso18 which is part of CSW Global. It raises awareness in Mexico and the wider region on issues concerning freedom of religion or belief. Pray for grace and favor on this work.
April 28: Please pray for CSW’s partner organization, Impulso18, as its work expands across Mexico. Ask God to bless CSW’s Latin America Team Leaders and staff with wisdom and safety.
April 29: Pray for the children of minority faiths who are often barred from school to enforce religious conformity. Local leaders violently expel minority faith families from their communities, and the children are unable to enroll in a new school.
April 30: Today is Children's Day in Mexico. Pray all Mexican children have access to education, regardless of their faith. Children are expelled from school just because their parents follow a different religion than the rest of the community.
